Jagan concludes Yagnam, prays for welfare of state

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Wednesday prayed for the good of the state and happiness for the people of Andhra Pradesh during the final phase of the Mega Penance, the Ashtottara Satha Kundatmanya (108) Sri Lakshmi Mahayaga.

The events concluded with the initiation of 'Poornahuti' by the Chief Minister at the IGMC Stadium on Wednesday.

The mega event was marked by 'Chandi', 'Rudra', 'Rajashyamala' and 'Sudarshana' Yagams aimed at getting the spiritual blessings for a comprehensive development of the state. This was the first of its kind Mega Penance ever held for the people and state. It was organised by the AP government with CM Jagan's 'Sankalp', lasting six days.

The CM wished for showering of the fruits of Mega Penance on AP and the state’s people.

Taking to Twitter, CM Jagan said, “Today saw the culmination of the 'Chandi', 'Rudra', 'Raja Syamala', and Sudarshana Sahita Sri Lakshmi Maha Yagam lasting six days, where thousands joined hands in prayers for the progress and prosperity of Andhra Pradesh. I am grateful for the unwavering faith that the people have bestowed upon me. Together, we envision a brighter future filled with progress, development and abundance. Wishing health, wealth and welfare to all!”

The chief minister offered 'Pattu Cheera' to Goddess Mahalakshmi at the 'Abhisheka Mandapam'. Earlier, he was received at the 'Yagasala' by endowments minister Kottu Satyanarayana and endowments commissioner S Satyanarayana.  Yagam purohits welcomed the CM by reciting Vedic hymns and handed over the 'Sesha Vastralu' to him.

The endowments minister said the Sri Lakshmi Mahayagam with 'Chandi', 'Rudra', 'Rajashyamala', 'Sudarshana' rituals was performed in an unprecedented manner and according to the prescriptions of eight 'Agamas' mentioned in the Vedas.

He concluded that the yagam resolution taken by the Chief Minister has been fully fruitful. As many as 550 'Ruthvikas' and 300 assistants have performed 'Vyakhanasam', 'Pancharatra', 'Siavam' and 'Vydika Smartham' rituals following the four 'Agamamas' and further 'yagam', 'homams', 'veera saivam', 'tantrasara' and  'Grama Devaaradhana' were held and 'Japa Parayanam' done according to the dictates of the other four 'Agamas'.

The minister pointed out that, on the first day, CM Jagan started the events by taking a vow and performing the 'Maha Purnahuti' with special poojas in four Yaga halls. After that, in the 'abhisheka mandap', the Chief Minister performed the 'abhishekam' to the Goddess Ananta Lakshmi, Vedic scholars recited Vedas and, after the blessings, new clothes were presented to the CM.

“The CM was happy about the success of the Yaga. He has ordered the formation of a Dharma Parirakshana Parishad to promote 'Dharma' throughout the state.

Jagan Reddy later inspected the master plan of the comprehensive development works of the Sri Durgamalleswara Swamy Varla temple (Durga temple) on Indrakiladri, that is to be undertaken at a cost of ₹225 crore.

The minister explained to the CM that with the construction of new facilities, the devotees can come and offer prayers with more ease. The devotees who come for darshan are already being provided with fresh water, accommodation and toilet facilities, as in Tirumala-Tirupati. Similarly, like the 'Alipiri' entrance, a magnificent gopuram will be erected at the entrance of the Durga temple.

From May 25 to 31, a golden Kalash will be installed on Shivaji Rajagopuram in Srisailam at the hands of the Chief Minister.

Home Minister Vanitha, education minister Satyanarayana, Housing minister Ramesh and TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy along with his wife and several MLAs and senior officials participated in the events on the final day.
