YSRC welcomes SC verdict on R5 Zone house sites in Amaravati
Vijayawada: The ruling YSR Congress has welcomed the Supreme Court order allowing the state government to distribute house sites to landless people in R5 zone of Amaravati.
MLC Manikya Varaprasad said the government was working for the development of Amaravati in various aspects and there was nothing wrong in allotting house sites to the poor. This also helps for Amaravati development, he stressed.
Varaprasad said that some elders have filed a petition in the high court against the distribution of small patches of land to the poor, but the high court upheld the government's decision. The elders then approached the Supreme Court with their plea. “The Supreme Court has given a fair judgment favouring the state government’s action.”
The MLC pointed out that the petitioners were backed by the Telugu Desam, which had also opposed the introduction of English medium in government schools, which was aimed to help the poor SC, ST, BC and minority children get quality education.
He said the chief minister was engaged in a class war and stood by the side of the poor. On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu and his TD were functioning with “a feudal ideology.” Already 30 lakh poor people have been allotted house plots across the state by the YSRC government,” he noted.
