Woman and son attack GHMC road sweeper
The argument led to a fight during which Aruna Kumar and her son pushed Yadamma resulting in her falling.
Hyderabad: A GHMC sanitation worker was allegedly assaulted by two persons when she objected to them dumping garbage on the road. Yadamma was injured in the incident.
Rapolu Yadamma, 57, a resident of Hayathnagar, was working as a contract sanitation worker in GHMC Hayathnagar circle since three years. On Friday morning she and her colleagues were sweeping Road #13 in Dwarakamainagar near Autonagar.
Meanwhile, she saw the residents of a home dumping parts of a tree which they had cut down on the road. Yadamma objected to them dumping waste on the road.
The woman, Aruna Kumar, a housewife, and her son Nikith Kumar, an engineering student, picked up an argument with Yadamma. They insisted on dumping the waste on the road despite Yadamma objecting.
The argument led to a fight during which Aruna Kumar and her son pushed Yadamma resulting in her falling.
She fell on the ground and was injured. Her colleagues rushed her to a nearby government hospital. It was found that Yadamma's left hand was fractured and she had other minor injuries.
Hayathnagar corporator Sama Tirumalreddy who visited Yadamma in the hospital condemned the attack.
“GHMC staffers are playing an active role in Swachh Hyderabad and all citizens should support them. This kind of incidents will demoralise them and would be dealt with strictly,” he said.
Based on her complaint Vanasthalipuram police registered a case against the woman and her son for injuring a public servant to stop her from discharging her duty.
“Yadamma is out of danger and is recovering. Based on the evidence we will take action,” Vanasthali-puram sub inspector D. Vijay said.
