THANJAVUR: The boat jetty at Mallipattinam, a major coastal town in Thanjavur district, has been renovated at a cost of Rs 60 crore.
Mr. A. Annadurai, Thanjavur district collector who inspected the completed works on Sunday, said that 213 motor boats, 967 country boats could now be tethered in the jetty.
He also inspected the boat repair workshop, two auctioning halls, knitting centre for fish nets, and two overhead tanks put up at a cost of Rs 30,000 each.
Later, Mr Annadurai saw the net knitting centre, RCC pipe bridges, tar roads put up at a cost of `two crore at Karaiyur Theru village. He also inspected completed works at Eripurakarai, another fishermen’s village.
Sivakumar, Assistant director of fisheries accompanied the collector during his inspection, according to official sources.
