Severe heat wave warning for three Tamil Nadu districts

CHENNAI: As north Tamil Nadu continues to wilt under heat wave conditions, three districts - Tiruvallur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai - will experience severe heat wave conditions, the Met office has warned.
The northern parts of the State, especially Chennai, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Puducherry, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur and Trichy districts will continue to experience heat wave conditions till June 18. The public have been advised not to expose themselves to direct sunlight between 11 am and 4 p.m. to avoid sunstroke, a release from D. R. Krishnan, Duty Officer, Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai.
The maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2-4 degree Celsius in Madurai, Dindigul, Salem and Namakkal districts. For Chennai and neighbouring areas, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 41 and 31 degree Celsius respectively, the bulletin said.
