Tiruchy: 2 killed, 4 hurt in separate mishaps

Multiple accidents in central districts.

TIRUCHY: At least two persons including a woman were killed and four others injured in three different road accidents in the delta districts of Tiruchy, Perambalur and Pudukkottai, on Sunday.

Police said, a 37-year-old computer engineer was killed and another one injured, when their car hit a roadside tree after crashing into the road median at Karuppukkovil on the Tiruchy - Pudukkottai highway near here, in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Bharathiraja of Beemnagar in Tiruchy.

Injured car driver, Abdul Majeed, was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government hospital here. They were returning home from Rameswaram when the mishap occurred.

In the second accident, a 70-year-old woman was run over by an unidentified vehicle at Neduvasal village on the Tiruchy - Chennai national highway near Perambalur in the wee hours of Sunday.

In the third accident, three persons including two farmers were injured when a paddy-laden mini-van in which they travelling, capsized when the driver was
negotiating a curve near Therukkutheru village near Karambaakudi in Pudukkottai district, on Sunday.

The injured driver Rajendran (47) and farmers Arumugam (46) and Selvam, were admitted to the government medical college hospital, Pudukkottai, police said.
