Guntur to display history during Krishna river fete
Guntur Municipal Corporation will display statues and paintings reflecting the glory of Guntur district.
Amaravati: Statues and paintings will showcase the pride of Guntur during Krishna Pushkaralu. The Guntur Municipal Corporation will display statues and paintings reflecting the glory of Guntur district on the main centres of the city during Krishna Pushkaralu. The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada will supply the statues and paintings that would be displayed on the Amaravati Road, Guntur main road and other junctions.
GMC Commissioner Shanmugam Nagalakshmi viewed a PowerPoint presentation by the CCV at GMC office on Saturday. CCV chief executive officer and archaeologist E. Sivanagi Reddy said that Guntur has been famous from centuries for its contribution to society and Buddhism and Jainism promoted in Amaravati, Bhattiprolu, Nagarjunakonda and other parts of the district.
He said that CCV will install statues of famous leaders from the district and various types of paintings on several subjects that have brought global recognition to the district. Mr Reddy showed the paintings and statues proposed by the CCV through PowerPoint presentation on the occasion.
Ms Nagalakshmi said that as old Amaravati was famous for Buddhism, the CCV can display Buddhist related paintings and statues on the historical Amaravati road during Krishna Pushkaralu. She suggested beautification of road dividers and Pushkarnagars with various paintings to attract the public who comes in large numbers for Krishna Pushkaralu.
