Telugu Desam to back KVP Bill on special status
The private bill may come up for discussion during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Hyderabad: Congress Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao has got support for his private bill on special category status for AP from unexpected quarters.
The Telugu Desam in AP on Saturday decided to support Dr Rao’s private Bill that he had introduced in the Rajya Sabha in the previous session requesting the Centre to announce special category status to AP.
The private bill may come up for discussion during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The decision was taken during a meeting of the TD Parliamentary Party chaired by party president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Dr Rao had in the past written to Mr Naidu requesting his party’s support for the Bill. TD MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy said the party would support the Bill, Speaking to this newspaper, he said, “not only Congress but whoever speaks in the interests of the state, TD will support.” He said that their aim is to achieve special category status for AP as announced by the Centre in Parliament.
