Bengaluru: The controversy over having a photo of Chief Minister  Siddaramaiah on the gas stoves being distributed free of cost to over 10 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families as part of ‘Anila Bhagya’ (Gas Bhagya), has been resolved.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister U.T. Khader told Deccan Chronicle that “the issue has been discussed with oil companies and resolved. The date for launching the new scheme will be decided in the coming state Cabinet meeting.”

Recently, a few oil companies had opined that putting the Chief Minister’s photo on the gas stove was not possible since the subsidy amount was being borne by the Centre.

Four meetings between the chief secretary and senior representatives of oil companies concerned were cancelled on the issue of Mr Siddaramaiah’s logo on the gas stove.

This had forced the government to postpone the launch. Now, this issue is learnt to have been resolved after discussions with oil companies in Hubballi.

Mr Khader ruled out any duplicity in the scheme since the  government would pay the security deposit of Rs 1,900 and Rs 1,000 for the gas stove directly to oil companies.
