Bengaluru: Angry with the midnight search carried out at his residence by a police team in connection with the attempt to kidnap case of BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa’s PA Vinay, BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa has written to City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood, complaining to him of ‘serious misconduct’ by the police and seeking a fair and truthful investigation.

The police team visited his house ‘Dhavalagiri’ at RMV 2nd Stage in Dollars Colony, in search of his personal assistant N. R. Santhosh, whose role is suspected in the case. The search was conducted on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

In his letter on Sunday, Mr Yeddyurappa said, “I am bringing to your notice through this letter a case of serious misconduct during investigation on part of the Bengaluru City Police. N.R. Santhosh is my relative and he is working with me for the past seven years. On July 15 at about 12 midnight, ACP Badigar and his team members came to my house. They entered the house through the cellar and searched the house and enquired about Santhosh. They asked our security people to show Santhosh’s room. As he was not at my house, the police left.”

He said, "It appears to me that police officers concerned are determined to fix Santhosh as an accused in a case, in which to the best of my knowledge, he is not involved. I am also afraid that evidence is being created with mala fide intentions against Santhosh. There was no need for the police to come to my house at midnight. They could have come during the day and conducted proper enquiries." He said, "I have already spoken and brought this information to the notice of Additional Commissioner Hemant Nimbalkar on Saturday afternoon. I have also tried to contact you but you were not available on phone. Hence, I have contacted DG&IGP R.K. Dutta and brought this information to his notice. I received the information that one of the accused, Rajendra Urs, who has already been granted anticipatory bail, was taken to an undisclosed place and the police have forced him to state that Santhosh is also involved in this.” He said, “I have absolutely no intention of intervening in the investigation of any crime. But, I request you to ensure that the investigation is not made with the mala fide and evil intention of damaging the reputation of political rivals and harassing the innocent. I request you to ensure that the investigation of the case is done in a fair and truthful manner."
