Hyderabad: Shishu Vihar under lens as 2 kids die
Based on the complaints filed by B. Srinivas, a social worker at Shishu Vihar, the SR Nagar police registered two cases of suspicious deaths.
Hyderabad: Two infants aged four days and nine months respectively who were admitted to Shishu Vihar, Yousufuguda died of health complications. Surprisingly, one of the two children died of nasal bleeding two days after the doctors declared her healthy.
B. Srinivas, a social worker at Shishu Vihar, stated in his complaint to SR Nagar police that around 1 am on June 12, Begumpet police admitted a four-day-old girl to the childcare center. The baby, Nithya, weighed 1.3 kg at the time of admission. She was later taken to Niloufer hospital for a general check-up, and the doctors there informed the attendant that she was completely healthy but needed proper feeding. She was then sent back to Shishu Vihar.
Around 7.10 pm on Sunday, some attendants at Shishu Vihar noticed Nithya was bleeding from her nose and rushed her to Niloufer Hospital, where she was declared dead.
In another instance, Begumpet police admitted the nine-month-old Satya Sri to Shishu Vihar after her mother’s demise on June 9. She was then taken to Niloufer hospital for a general check-up. The doctors at Niloufer hospital informed the attendants from Shishu Vihar that Satya Sri was suffering from a fungal infection and multiple health disorders. Subsequently, she was admitted to the hospital for treatment. She died on Sunday while undergoing treatment.
Based on the complaints filed by Srinivas, the SR Nagar police registered two cases of suspicious deaths.
SR Nagar inspector S. Murali Krishna said, “We received two complaints of babies' deaths at Shishu Vihar. The reasons behind the deaths will be ascertained from the postmortem reports which Gandhi Hospital will share with us soon.”
