Probe into tiger death: Blade presence puzzles investigators
Earlier it was suspected that the tiger could have been poisoned.
OOTY: The probe into the death of a tiger under mysterious circumstances in the Parson’s Valley area near here on Sunday revealed the presence of a small piece of blade in the stomach of the carcass of the tiger as per the findings after autopsy.
Forest sources said that the male tiger was a 2 year old sub-adult which could have entered the phase of fixing its territory in the jungles there in Parson’s Valley.
Earlier it was suspected that the tiger could have been poisoned.
But autopsy findings revealed that the stomach was full of tapeworms along with undigested ‘sambar’ deer meat.
A small broken piece of a shaving blade was found inside the stomach with internal bleeding injuries.
It is tentatively concluded that either tape worm infestation could have choked the passage of food inside the alimentary canal that led to death or the piece of blade could have made digestion complicated.
“There is no clue how the blade piece entered its digestive system. Investigation is still underway in this case,” sources maintained.
