Karnataka COVID numbers catching up with Maharashtra
The death toll crossed one century and stood at 104
The rate at which fresh Corona positive cases are zooming in the state, the health department and public representatives who kept comparing the state's tally with Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and New Delhi and went on to claim that the state is in a better off position have to hang their heads in shame.
Karnataka which was not in the top 10 list, quickly made it to the list, climbed the ladder, stood at top 5 and now beats Gujarat and stands at fourth position. It has Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and New Delhi above it.
Karnataka health officials would often be seen pating their back on controlling Corona positive cases and it is this foolish comparison and careless attitude that have pushed the state to cross the 50,000 cases mark.
On Thursday, fresh cases in the state stood at 50,422. In a highest ever single day spike, the state recorded a whopping 4,169 fresh cases and Bengaluru crossed 2,000 cases and reported 2,344 cases.
The death toll crossed a century and stood at 104. Bengaluru alone witnessed 70 fresh deaths since Wednesday evening.
Bengaluru's recovery rate is also a worrying factor. As the number of cases piles up, the city's recovery rate is just 23.54 per cent. The mortality rate is 2 per cent in Bengaluru and the city has 18,828 active cases. Till date, Karnataka has carried out 9.25 lakh COVID tests. Since Wednesday evening 1,263 patients who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged.
Despite all these developments, the lockdown which was imposed with the sole purpose of bringing the rising numbers isn't being implemented effectively.
