Fire breaks out in Delhi bound Vande Bharat Express, none injured

Hyderabad: A coach in Bhopal-Delhi bound Vande Bharat Express caught fire in Madhya Pradesh at Kurwai Kethora railway station on Monday. The train was going from Bhopal to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal. However, no injury was reported in the incident.

Origin of the fire

One of the coaches of the train caught fire. According to the Indian Railways, the fire originated in the battery box of one of the coaches. Few railway staff noticed the fire early in the morning and informed the authorities.

The train had departed from Rani Kamalpati station and it was heading towards Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi, according to the Indian Railways. The fire led to the immediate halt of the train. The video of the incident went viral immediately. People were seen trying to douse the fire in the video.

Reaction to the blaze

The incident was reported immediately and the fire brigade was called. The fire brigade team doused the fire at 7:58am, said Rahul Shrivastava, West Central Railway CPRO. All the passengers onboard are reported safe.

Following the inspection and thorough examination, the train resumed its journey to New Delhi at around 10 am.

Vande Bharat Express is the fastest train of India and has the top speed of 180 km/h. Previously, stones were pelted on the train, and it developed snag and broke down twice on its first commercial run. Minor fire was reported in the train earlier in March this year.
