Bengaluru: Bank manager found dead in car
Muniyappa told her he was with his colleague Tilak and that it would take some time as they were awaiting two others.
Bengaluru: A 50-year-old bank manager was found dead in his car on Outer Ring Road near Kanteerava Stadium in Kamakshipalya police limits on Wednesday. The deceased, Muniyappa (50), lived in R.T. Nagar. Prima facie, it seemed like a suicide as police found an empty bottle of poison in the backseat, where Muniyappa was lying dead. Family members suspect murder.
Kamakshipalya police have registered a case under IPC section 302 and are awaiting the postmortem report. Muniyappa, who was a manager at Sudha Cooperative Bank (Amrutahalli branch) left home on Tuesday evening, on the pretext of doing some work. His wife Mamta him around 10.30 pm to ask for his whereabouts. Muniyappa told her he was with his colleague Tilak and that it would take some time as they were awaiting two others.
The next morning, as her husband was still missing and wouldn’t answer her repeated calls, she approached R.T. Nagar police station and lodged a missing complaint.
After this, she and her two sons and relatives started searching for Muniyappa and found his car parked on the side of Outer Ring Road. They found Muniyappa lying dead on the back seat and informed the police.
Kamakshipalya police, who arrived at the spot, found an empty poison bottle beside Muniyappa’s body. “The prima facie evidence suggests that it is a case of suicide. We have registered a case of murder following the complaint from the wife of the deceased. The postmortem report will give us a clear picture.”
