Hyderabad HC agrees to hear Telangana law secretary plea on expelled MLAs
The bench directed the Registry to post the appeals on August 21, for hearing.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday agreed to hear the appeals on August 21 by Assembly secretary and the law secretary of Telangana state challenging the order of a single judge granted setting aside the resolution of the Telangana Assembly expelling Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar.
Senior counsel Vedula Venkata Ramana for Assembly secretary V. Narasimhacharyulu, informed a division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrish-nan and S.V. Bhatt that the petitioner MLAs filed the contempt case against appellants and the single judge felt that there is prima facie in the case and issued notices to the appellants besides issuing the show cause notice to the Speaker of the Telangana Assembly.
Stating that the single judge has posted the contempt case to August 28, counsel urged the bench to take up the hearing of appeals by both secretaries.
The bench directed the Registry to post the appeals on August 21, for hearing.
