Indian bank celebrates 113th founding day

Chennai: Apart from the patriotic fervour that dominates the celebrating of the nation's Independence Day on August 15, the Chennai headquartered Indian Bank has yet another milestone to cherish on that day. The bank had commenced operations on 15 August 2019 and so Thursday evening was very special for its officers and staff as they celebrated the 113th Founding Day and hail the institution's performance contributing immensely to the socio-economic, inclusive development across the country.
In the Chennai celebrations at the IMAGE auditorium, true to its rich legacy of recognising outstanding achievers, the Bank felicitated renowned social worker and customer, Padma Shri Dr. S. Rajaram of Sivananda Saraswathi Sevashram, selfless rural reformist of Kuthambakkam Village Ranga-swamy Elango and an acclaimed young prodigy from Tirunelveli K. Visalini.
Speaking on the occasion, MD&CEO of Indian Bank Ms. Padmaja Chunduru, urged the employees to renew their commitment to the cause of the Bank and work with passion to ensure customer satisfaction.The Bank, in line with the recent direction of the Government of India to all PSBs, has initiated the 'bottom-up consultative process' for generation of innovative ideas born out of out-of-box thinking at the branch level, she said, adding that the bank's senior management personnel are moving to various places in this week for two days to seek suggestions and ideas from the field level for implementation.
Executive Directors Shri M.K. Bhattacharya and Shri V.V. Shenoy also shared their viewpoints. Indian Bank Founder's great granddaughter, former Justice Prabha sridevan participated in the function. On this occasion, Indian Bank launched two new products--Repo Linked Home Loan and Vehicle Loan which will ensure instantaneous transmission of Policy rate changes by RBI to the borrowers. The Bank has also rolled out two new Products with special features - Savings Bank Account for Senior Citizens - IB SAMMAN and Retail Loan Scheme 'IB Eco-Vahan'.
Continuing with its lead role in fulfilling corporate social responsibility, the Bank gave six 'blood donation cots' each to Stanley Hospital and Royapettah Government Hospital, Chennai. In commemoration of the Bank's 113th Foundation Day, as green initiative, 113 trees saplings were planted in Chennai.
