Yoga to be part of Dasara festivities this time in Mysuru

Mysuru: Widely reputed as a city of yoga, Mysuru will see over 10,000 people, including the police and  jail inmates perform yoga over the next couple of weeks as part of its annual Dasara celebrations.

Besides a mass surya namaskara performed by over 2,000 people in the grounds of the Mysuru palace , a national yoga meet will be held on  October 5 and 6 in the city.

Come September 21 and the Yoga Dasara sub-committee will host a “Yoga Praboda” for teachers, students and ayush doctors at the Maharaja’s college centenary hall and a day later, a Yoga Parivarthana will begin for prisoners.  Yoga dance forms will be performed on the 24th at the Government Ayush Institute and a day later,  Yoga  Arogya Bharathi will be performed to showcase its health benefits at the Nataraja Sabha Bhavan. CAR cops will be taught Yoga Kaushalya from September 26 to  October 1 and on Septembr 27, Yoga Chaarana will be held to teach yoga to those who climb the Chamundi hills. This will be followed by a yoga walk on October 2. October 9 will see the city host a yoga contest.  Meanwhile, an ayush camp was held for mahouts and kavadis of Dasara elephants between August 26 and September 15.
