Visakhapatnam: Civic body-run school bags Swachhata Hi Seva Award
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan identified best schools in the state are eligible for Swachh Bharat Award based on different criteria.
Visakhapatnam: In the recently concluded Swachhata Hi Seva Awards under the Swachh Bharat Mission organised by the ministry of drinking water and sanitation at Amravati, GVMC KRK Primary School in Seethammapeta in the city was recognised as the best primary school in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, in the presence of P.V. Sindhu, Ambassador of Swachh Andhra Mission, Nara Lokesh, panchayat raj minister, and other dignitaries, presented the award to the headmistress, Ms. Baby Sarojini.
The selection was done by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Andhra Pradesh and Swachh Andhra Mission. SSA identified best schools in the state are eligible for Swachh Bharat Award based on different criteria. Swachh Andhra Mission visited the schools during the second week of September for final assessment and declared four schools as the best under Swachh Bharat Mission, one of which was the GVMC KRK Primary School. The school was revitalised under Coca-Cola's Support My School (SMS) campaign, an initiative to build happy, healthy and active schools for students in rural and semi-urban areas in partnership with Plan India.
