Madras HC gets new public prosecutor, additional advocate general
He was the government advocate (criminal side) in the Madras high court from 2011 to 2013.
Chennai: Senior advocate A.Natarajan and advocate C.Emalias were appointed as Public Prosecutor and Additional Advocate General-XI in the Madras high court.
The public (law officers) department issued orders on October 15.Enrolled as an advocate on November 8, 1978, A.Natarajan was designated as senior advocate in the year 2005. He is specialised on the criminal side (both trial and high court cases). Having professional experience for over 40 years in the field of law, Natarajan conducted many sensational cases which included Auto Shankar case, Udumalpet honour killing case, Ayothikuppam Veeramani murder case and Dharmapuri bus burning case.
Natarajan was earlier elected as a member of Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for two terms. He was also appointed as an executive council member for the National Law School, Tiruchirapalli.
Hailing from Kanyakumari district, C.Emalias enrolled as an advocate in 1988. He was the government advocate (criminal side) in the Madras high court from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2017 he held the post of additional public prosecutor and from 2017 he was the state public prosecutor. Now appointed as additional advocate general, Emalias was practising mainly on the criminal side.
