Finance minister Dr T.M. Thomas Isaac's project will be conducted in a scientific manner. Besides increasing storage capacity of dams, process is also expected to yield enough sand to meet increased demand for sand.

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has wondered why BJP president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, who issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the LDF Government, had not impleaded himself in the Sabrimala case to ensure a favourable verdict from the Supreme Court.

In an open letter here on Tuesday, Dr Isaac told Mr Pillai that he should explain to the agitators under his command why he had failed to use his legal acumen before the top court to argue questions regarding young women’s entry at the hill shrine.

Dr Isaac reminded him that it was the RSS, which had championed unrestricted entry of women at Sabarimala. RSS leader Bhaiya Joshi is on record on TV exhorting all people to respect the SC verdict. Also, the stand taken by RSS mouthpiece Kesari and BJP’s Janmabhumi in support of women’s entry is in public domain. What precisely is Mr Pillai’s stand in this context?

RSS leader R Hari, in his piece in Kesari, had ridiculed in harshest terms those who fail to see the writing on the wall. Do Mr Pillai and his comrades-in -arms belong to the category that fails to read the writing , asked Dr Isaac.

He said the current agitation has succeeded in exposing Sangh Parivar’s animosity towards the Indian Constitution. A responsible leader of BJP had openly called for burning the Constitution. Mr Pillai should clarify his stand, as an advocate and partyman, whether he agr-eed with those who want to burn the Constitution.

Referring to the ultimatum, Dr Isaac reminded Mr Pillai of VHP leader Praveen Togadia’s 48-hour-deadline, asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue an ordinance to remedy the situation. Would Mr Pillai have the gumption to press the Centre, as advised Mr Togadia, to bring out an ordinance, asked Dr Isaac.
