However when the meeting was held again on Wednesday, all the members unanimously agreed for strike.

Activists protest in Bengaluru on Thursday against private doctors' strike

MANGALURU: Private Doctors in Dakshina Kannada district will go on strike from Friday. Though their colleagues in other districts went on strike from Thursday, doctors in DK decided to do so on Friday. 

Sources said that there was no unanimity on going for bundh in the meeting held earlier in the district and thus a meeting was held again on Wednesday. 

However when the meeting was held again on Wednesday, all the members unanimously agreed for strike.  

"We decided to give a notice of 24 hours time to the administration before we went on strike. Thus we will be going on strike on Friday,” IMA district secretary Dr Ullas Shetty told Deccan Chronicle.

However some members already had gone on stirke on Thursday. 

There are about 1,500 members of IMA in district.  “We have received support from AYUSH doctors and other associations including dental association, orthopedic, psychiatry,” Dr Shetty said. About 5,000 doctors are expected to go on strike on Friday.

In Udupi, the doctors started their protest on Thursday. Patients who went to private hospitals had to return. The number of patients in the government hospital was more on Thursday.
