Hyderabad: Local police to provide security at Metro stations

On Thursday, the police inspected Metro stations and drafted a security plan.

Hyderabad: The police from the three commissionerates in the city will be overseeing the security of Metro Rail on the inauguration day. The local police will be taking care of the security till a separate force is constituted. “As of now, the local police will be taking care of the security at the stations. An inspector- rank official will be in-charge of Metro stations and the security arrangements will be coordinated by an SP-rank official,” said a senior police official. On Thursday, the police inspected Metro stations and drafted a security plan. “Assistance from Metro Rail is sought for baggage checking and frisking,” said the official. 

A dedicated force on the lines of the government railway police will be created to look after Metro Rail security. As of the now, men from the city armed reserve, Telangana special police force and home guards will be posted to man security at Metro stations. There are 26 stations on the Miyapur- Nagole stretch passing through Tarnaka, Begumpet, Ameerpet and Kukatpally.
