Police seized Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 1,54,48,000 from four persons belonging to Hyderabad
Nellore: Police seized Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 1,54,48,000 from four persons belonging to Hyderabad late on Thursday night. The persons are M.A. Rawoof, M. Sripal Reddy, D. Sravana Kumar and N.B. Abdul Khaleef. They claimed that they had come to obtain power of attorney from the owners living in Nellore to purchase land in Hyderabad.
Nellore One Town SI M. Raghunadh rushed to Minerva Grand Hotel near KIMS Hospital around 6 pm on Thursday following a tip-off about large sums of money being carried by some persons staying in the hotel. The SI tracked down the four and seized the cash found in their luggage.
Special Branch DSP N. Kota Reddy said they are handing over the case to I-T for further investigation and depositing the cash in the treasury. He added that they have freed the four after obtaining their whereabouts since they have produced documents of the land deal. He said the only issue now is how they managed to secure such a huge volume of Rs 2,000 notes and that will be taken care by I-T.
