Top leaders meet Sasikala at Jayalalithaa's 11th day ritual

Ceremonies, poojas were held as per religious customs.

Chennai: Top leaders of the AIADMK including Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Lok Sabha deputy speaker M. Thambidurai, all the MPs, MLAs and key functionaries of AIADMK on Friday attended an event at Poes Garden here to commemorate the 11th day ritual after former Chief Minister
J. Jayalalithaa’s death.

The ceremonies and poojas were held as per religious customs before her portrait and a feast was provided to the participants. Jayalalithaa’s close aide V.K. Sasikala, who arranged the event, met the party leaders and it is said that she discussed the modalities for the general council and executive committee meeting.

All the leaders and functionaries again used the opportunity to make a request to Sasikala to take up the mantle of general secretary and stressed that she alone is qualified to lead the party after the death of its dynamic leader Jayalalithaa.

The leaders and functionaries paid floral tributes to Jayalalithaa's portrait, which was displayed in the house. The portrait was decorated with garlands and pooja was performed by the priests.

Earlier, the MLAs had gathered in the party office and they were brought to Poes Garden in a bus. A total of about 400 persons attended the event and they included party spokespersons, special invitees, district secretaries and staff of the party headquarters.
