VIJAYAWADA: Youth in the city took out a cycle rally, "Teenage Temptations", to create awareness against suicides by students in Vijayawada on Saturday. Youth who took part in the conference organised by the Andhra Pradesh Psychology Federation and SRR and CVR Government colleges. Commissioner of police Gowtam Sawang, who attended the programme, appreciated the youth for taking part in the campaign rally which will conclude in Amaravati.
Speaking at the conference, Mr Sawang said that students should develop confidence in their ownselves that they can withstand any sort of adversity. They have to share their problems with parents and friends." "At the same time, it is the responsibility of the teachers and parents not to exert pressure on the students. To serve the students, police started an app -- Fourth Lion, and a toll free number 7901274060 to counsel students having suicidal tendencies," he said.
Dr. Velaga Joshi, principal, SRR Degree College, P. Srinivas, head of the psychology department, M. Rajarao, SRR Junior College principal, lecturers, staff and students participated in the conference.
