Poor response from Pawan Kalyan forces people to shift to Jagan
APCRDA will acquire 1,400 acres of lands in various villages of Amaravati and majority of them in Penumaka.
GUNTUR: There has been no response from Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan in saving the multi-crop fertile lands in Amaravati from government move for acquisition. The actor had backed farmers against land acquisition last year, but nothing is heard from him of late.
The AP government has issued Land Acquisition notifications to 12 villages of the Amaravati Capital Region, out of a total of 29, in the past few days.
Landowners and farmers hoped that Pawan would come to their help against land acquisition. On the other hand, YSR Congress president and Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would visit villages in Amaravati that will be affected by the government notification, on January 19, and interact with the farmers.
APCRDA officials said the distribution of returnable residential and commercial plots to the pooled farmers has started. So, the APCRDA has to develop the layouts by providing all basic amenities including roads in the next phase.
APCRDA had, many a time, extended the last date for pooling of the lands, but only a few landowners and farmers have offered their lands under Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). The government is thus forced to go for forcible land acquisition.
The landowners/farmers of Undavalli, Penumaka and other villages got stay orders from the courts and are continuing their cultivation. Non- pooling farmers, G Narsmiha Rao, P Kondala Reddy and others said Pawan’s opposition to land acquisition saved their fertile lands last year. This year also, they pinned their hopes on him, but in vain. They said that as Jagan is coming to their villages, they are going to explain their plight to him and seek his help.
Mangalagiri MLA A Ramakrishna Reddy, YSRC Tadikonda constituency convener K Christina and others are contacting the locals for the success of Jagan’s tour. Meanwhile, APCRDA vice-chairman and minister for municipal administration, P Narayana, affirmed that land parcels will be acquired under the LA Act despite objections, and said that if the non-pooling farmers came forward, then the APCRDA would take them under LPS to avoid land acquisition.
