90% of students given Covid jab out of 26 lakh in AP
The minister said as the third C-wave was looming large but classes are held with all safety norms
Vijayawada: Education minister Adimulapu Suresh said on Monday that some 90 per cent of the 26 lakh students have been given the Covid19 vaccine so far.
The government is taking all steps to ensure health protection to students in all educational institutions and parents need not worry on that count, he said.
The minister said as the third C-wave was looming large. But classes are held with all safety norms in place so that students can be properly prepared for the exams and they would avoid losing an academic year, he said.
He maintained that schools were run for nearly 150 days without any major hitch this year and the state government was keeping a close watch on the Covid19 situation in the state. Suitable decisions will be taken at the appropriate time, he said.
He noted that the online method of teaching has its limitations and it could not be a substitute to class-room teaching especially for primary and upper primary sections.
Soon after the reopening of schools post-Sankranti, a 61 per cent attendance was registered on the first day itself in the state. Safety aspects in school will continue to get top priority, he said.
Two control rooms are functional at the department of school education and at the Board of Intermediate Education. Parents may contact them for information on Covid19 related issues. They function from 10am to 5pm. The control room numbers are 7833888555 for school education and 9440816025 for BIE.
