Hyderabad: Revenue records go online

Hyderabad: Land records in Telangana state have gone online and anyone can verify their property ownership details at a click.

In a major step towards e-governance and to ensure transparency and accountability in property transactions besides checking illegal transactions, the state government has devised an exclusive revenue records portal “Maa Bhoomi”, which became operational from Wednesday.

The Revenue department will also unveil a mobile app soon on which people can verify their property details.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali launched the facility here, along with chief commissioner of land administration Raymod Peter. The Revenue department is also collecting mobile numbers of all property owners, which will be linked with the portal.

The moment a property transaction is done in any part of the state, the portal will immediately alert the property owner concerned by sending an instant SMS. In case of an illegal transaction, the property owners will thus be alerted and they can lodge a complaint online.

Mr Peter said the portal would check the menace of multiple registrations of the same property with forged documents without the knowledge of the genuine property owners as it will alert genuine owners by sending SMS as soon as the property is registered anywhere in the state.

All revenue offices like RDO, MRO and the Stamps and Registrations department have been inter-linked with the portal to share revenue land data to check duplication.

“We request people to verify their land records online. If there are any discrepancies, they should bring them to the notice of MROs and get them rectified. Two months’ time will be given for people to lodge complaints if any. They can also file complaints online by using the option given on the website,” Mr Peter said.
