Nellore's lifestyle in tune with Smart City plan: Guy

Nellore: As part of Smart City plan, a stretch in the Mini Bypass Road or Children's Park Road will be developed on pilot basis soon.
It may be recalled that Nellore Corporation had entered into a pact with Confederation of Indian Industries to develop Nellore as Smart City at the instance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu sometime back.
CII has roped in SL Infra Private Ltd, a consultant company and offshoot of SR Group for potential study to transform Nellore as Smart City. A team led by Guy Perry of SL Infra along with CII representative Buddha Dev decided to select either a stretch in Mini Bypass Road or Children's Park Road to provide facilities under Smart City plan.
Apart from improving greenery, the selected area will have footpath, good drainage system, CC Cameras, Wi-Fi and it will be declared as litter-free zone.
The facilities will be exte-nded to other parts of the City in a phased manner.
Mr Guy Perry, who played a role in developing RK Beach in Visakhapatnam apart from various cities including Tokyo and part of Singapore, said that the life style of the denizens of Nellore is in tune with Smart City plan.
He observed that it is much easier to implement Smart City plan in medium towns such as Nellore compared to big cities and predicted fast phase of growth.
During an interaction with the Mayor S.K. Abdul Azeez and Commissioner Venakteswarlu here on Wednesday, Mr Guy Perry said that the City will be developed on Public-Private-Partnership mode under BOT system.
CII will take care of bringing partnership aspect of the plan and SL Infra would execute the project. Mayor told the team to develop a Foodcourt Street similar to food park in 1,000 square meters area.
