Bengaluru shooting case: Police still not sure of legislator's involvement

Bengaluru: The North East division police, probing the shooting incident in which APMC president and rowdy K. Shrinivasmurthy alias Kadabagere Seena sustained bullet injuries, are yet to get any leads in the case. Despite Seena stating before the police that he suspect a legislator's hand in the incident, the police have not been able to act because of lack of evidence against the elected representative.

"It is natural that a person blames his rival for any attack on him. In this case, Seena had rivalry with the legislator and claimed that the other person was behind the murder bid. Though we are looking into the allegation, there is no evidence against the legislator as of now," an official said.

The police have already grilled the legislator several times in connection with the case. "As his name figured prominently in the case, he was summoned for questioning. He is being questioned every day for the last 4-5 days. Even he is cooperating with the ongoing investigations. His friends were also questioned, but there is no concrete evidence to prove his role in the case," the official said.

The police are reportedly convinced that those who were arrested in a threat call case are in no way involved in the shootout case. "Rowdies Onte Rohit and Silent Sunila, who were arrested on charges of making threat calls to Tata Ramesh, a close aide of Seena, have confessed to making the threat call. But they have no role in the shooting incident. Earlier there was suspicion on Rohit's involvement, but investigations ruled out his role in the murder bid," the official said.

Seena, who was shot near Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka on February 3, was discharged from the hospital on Friday, exactly two weeks after the incident.
