Telangana: 40 families win gold, silver for splitting waste

Hyderabad: Over 40 households in Gudimalkapur won a gram of gold each, and 10 others silver for segregating domestic waste. Ms K.S. Madhavi of Satyanarayananagar, Gudimalkapur, who got  one gm gold, said, “All we have to do is throw plastic waste in the red bin and kitchen waste in the blue bin.”

The gifts cost TRS corporator Bangari Prakash around Rs 1.5 lakh. The winners were selected through a lucky draw. Gudimalkapur has 25,000 households. Ms Sudha Rani, another wi-nner, said, “After Rajen-dranagar, Gudimalka-pur division stands second in  maximum waste segregation.”
