Hyderabad: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed the CID Director-General to inquire and initiate action against one Shakir Rehan, who was allegedly making false allegations against the deworming initiative of the government and creating panic among the minority community.
The commission said Rehan had posted video messages on social media alleging that the government was testing drugs by administering them to one particular section.
Albendazole is being given to students by staff of state medical and health department as part of deworming initiative, commission member Achyuta Rao said. He added that Pragathi Vidya Niketan in Amberpet had lodged a complaint regarding the rumours.
School correspondent S. Madhusudhan stated that he was getting calls from people in West Asia asking for clarifications and threatening to blow up the school.
“The video in which it was alleged that injections were being given forcibly to students from one community so that they would become impotent has hit the school reputation very hard,” he said.
