ACP shunted for slapping woman
Cop slapped woman accused at press meett.
HYDERABAD: A disciplinary action has been ordered against Assistant Commissioner of Police, Begumpet, S. Ranga Rao, as he slapped an accused woman at a press meet in Bolaram on Saturday. Ranga Rao was attached to the City Armed Reserve Headquarters immediately and the Additional DCP of North Zone was asked to look after his duties.
“We will conduct an inquiry where he would be asked an explanation for losing his temper . Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, V.V. Srinivasa Rao, may initiate an inquiry into this matter,” DCP North Zone, B. Sumathi, said. A press meet was conducted regarding the arrest of four women, Butti Manga alias Padma alias Vijaya, Paputhoti Elizabeth Rani alias Mammy, Munneli Swathi, and Kandey Bhagyamma, who were involved in snatching chains after diverting the victims’ attention.
“The ACP was addressing the media, explaining their modus operandi, when he suddenly lost his temper and slapped one of the women standing behind him and stood up from his chair,” sources said.
Following this, an immediate action was taken against him and he was attached to the City Armed Reserve Headquarters.
