AP Speaker Nadendla: Need to honour court ruling
House followed all rules and regulations and that was why the decisions of the House were not questioned in the Courts, said Speaker
Hyderabad: Reacting to High Court’s verdict, suspending the suspension of YSRC MLA R.K. Roja from the House for a year, former Speaker Nadendla Manohar said, “I think the AP Legislature will need to honour the HC verdict on Roja. Proper procedure was not followed while suspending her for an year. If they had followed proper procedure and then taken a decision, we could argue that courts cannot intervene in the affairs of Legislature. In earlier occasions like this, the House followed all rules and regulations and that was why the decisions of the House were not questioned in the Courts.”
Former Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy said, “There is some ambiguity in the issue. It would be better for Speaker Dr Kodela to put the issue before the House and debate how to go about it. But the House, while considering the High Court verdict, should remember that the relations between the House and the court should not be eroded and it should respect the functioning of other Constitutional bodies. I cannot suggest a particular way in which the Speaker should proceed on this issue.”
