Reservation row: Jat leaders meet Haryana govt representatives
The state government has blocked internet services in Rohtak as precautionary measure.
Chandigarh: Following the threat of another upheaval by Jat community over reservation, the Haryana Government held talks with the Jat leaders in Chandigarh on Friday.
Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) members and their national president Yashpal Malik were present in the meeting with the officials of the Haryana Government.
According to reports, the Jat leaders would also be meeting Haryana Chief Secretary Deepinder Singh Dhesi and Director General of Police (DGP) Y P Singhal to put forth their demands.
The Jat leaders had convened a meeting on March 14 and had handed the government a 72-hour ultimatum to fulfil seven demands.
Meanwhile, the state government has blocked internet services in Rohtak.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police (SP) Shashank Anand said that the action had been taken as a precautionary measure.
The Haryana Government has also stepped up security in many towns as the deadline issued by the Jat community to accept their demand for quotas ended on Thursday.
