Warangal: Hillock blasts damage houses
The hillock is being blasted and the explosions are causing cracks in the walls of houses.
RAGHUNATHAPALLI (WARANGAL): The villagers in Madharam in Raghunathapalli mandal are a scary lot what with continuous blasts in a stone crusher unit at Anantaraigutta, 500 mts from the village, damaging their houses.
They have been demanding that the unit be shifted to another place.
A local construction company has taken the hillock on lease and set up a stone crusher unit.
The hillock is being blasted and the explosions are causing cracks in the walls of houses and in a few cases, huge flakes are falling from the ceiling which can even prove fatal to the inmates. Around 40-50 houses in the village developed cracks due to the blasts conducted by the unit.
"The crushing unit was set up some six years ago. Once in 10-15 days, there are about 200 blasts in a day. On Wednesday, the ceiling of my house has come down partially. My nine-month-old grandson was sleeping in the same room but fortunately, he was not injured as he was beside the wall," said Balne Gattumallu, a resident of the village.
On Thursday, village sarpanch Balne Anuradha filed a complaint with tahsildar Lambu Ravi Chandra Reddy regarding the problem. "The blasts are even damaging our crops as debris from the hillock is falling in our fields. Children are also falling sick,” she said.
