Visakhapatnam: KPOs provided more jobs at fairs
3-day job fair in Vizag gets good response.
Visakhapatnam: The numerous recruitment drives conducted by Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA) at various places in the state in the last six months provided jobs to 4,000 students. Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) sector dealing with health and finance generated major chunk of jobs. The students with sound subject knowledge and basic computer skills grabbed the opportunities.
APITA’s three-day mega job fair in Vizag also generated good response from recruiters and students. In the first two days of the three-day fair, jobs were offered to 179 people by 32 companies and many others are in different rounds of the selection process. On Saturday, the recruitment drive was held by startups. Simultaneously, hiring in emerging technologies in financial sectors (blockchain) happened at the same venue where students of pursuing batch (2018), who have participated in any hackathon i.e. collaborative computer programming competition, were eligible to participate.
APITA additional CEO Winny Patro, said: “The state government through its multiple organisations is emphasising on emerging and disruptive technologies such as blockchain which is changing the way business is being conducted specially in financial sectors, necessitating new skill sets. We also conducted a startup drive today not only to encourage entrepreneurship, but also create a platform to the budding startups to get their employees at a single place, building wholesome eco-system for the startups and job seekers,”
Sreedhar Kosaraju, MD of Nimaisoft Systems Pvt Ltd. and a partner in the recruitment drive, said KPO sector was generating more jobs than other sectors. “There is a good future for emerging technologies like AI, machine learning and fintech. However, when it comes to the amount of job creation, these technologies cannot match with sectors like KPO. About 80 pc of the jobs offered were in KPO sector. ” Companies like Policybazaar, Paytm, Concentrix, VSoft, GMR Group, Heritage Foods, Peram Group, Miracle, Amzur, Pixentia, Inspiredge & Matrimony participated in the job fair, to name a few. Job roles were in Vizag, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bangalore & across Andhra Pradesh.
