Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday said that his comments that were sought to be portrayed as a deliberate insult to BRS MLC K. Kavitha, were nothing more than him using a common saying in Telangana state. Sanjay was speaking to reporters after he met with officials of the Telangana State Women’s Commission following summons issued to him on March 11 to give an explanation on his comments.

It may be recalled that Sanjay, had on March 8 speaking on the Delhi liquor scam and Kavitha’s alleged role in it had said, “Arrest cheyakunte muddhu pettukuntara (would the ED not arrest her and instead give her a kiss?),” kicking off a storm of protests from BRS leaders. The commission also took suo motu notice and issued summons to Sanjay to give an explanation.

Sanjay told reporters on Saturday after the hearing that, “I have responded to the notice I received and my statement has been recorded. The commission is a respectable organisation, the BJP is a party that respects women. I have answered all their questions.”
