BENGALURU: A massive fire broke out the godown of an incense sticks unit situated in Chamrajpet on Saturday night. Twenty fire tenders and 70 fire fighters had to battle for 12 hours to put out the blaze. However, there were no casualties, but goods worth lakhs got gutted.

According to the fire and emergency services department, the fire broke out at the basement of the three-storied godown of Anant Agarbatti around 9.45 pm. A call was made to the control room by one Riyaz, a local resident. Immediately 20 fire tenders were pressed into service.

The fire began at the basement of the three-storied building, which later engulfed the other floors where packets of incense sticks were stored.

Senior officials DCP (South) Lokesh and DIG fire and emergency Services H.S. Revanna also visited the spot and supervised the operation.  A suspected electrical short circuit might have led to the fire.
