Explosion in Bihar court premises injures three
Sources said the incident could be a fallout of inter gang rivalry but the police is not ruling out Naxal involvement in the incident.
Patna: An explosion ripped through a Bihar court’s premises early Monday morning, injuring three people, including a woman. According to eyewitnesses, the blast occurred when under trials were being brought into the Chapre court for hearing from jail.
An investigation has been launched into the incident and police suspect a woman’s hand in the explosion.
“A woman is a suspect in the case and has been detained for questioning”. They said that the woman injured in the blast was spotted carrying a bag inside the premises which they suspect “could be bomb,” said a police officer.
Eyewitnesses claimed that they had seen a burqa clad woman carrying a child just before the blast.
Sources said the incident could be a fallout of inter gang rivalry but the police is not ruling out Naxal involvement in the incident.
“Police has started investigating the case”, Saran District Magistrate Deepak Anand said. He said, “A separate team has been constituted to probe the matter from all aspect”.
The blast has once again raised serious questions on the security system inside court premises.
Though the District administration claimed that “there were adequate security measures inside the court premises”, eyewitnesses and lawyers said, “metal detectors installed at the gates stopped functioning few months ago and people visiting court were not being frisked properly”.
