CHENNAI: DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Monday said the AIADMK government is fully focused on saving the party symbol and a case had been filed against them for trying to bribe the Election Commission itself.

The only concern of the ruling party is to stick to power and they are not concerned about the plight of farmers, he said while addressing a meeting here to celebrate the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Chinnamalai. The state government should have convened the all-party meeting, but the DMK had done what the ruling party failed to do by convening such a meeting. He said 85 per cent of the leaders attended the meeting and only two or three leaders did not participate and added “I am not criticizing them”.

When there is an issue in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, the leaders of the states are united, but such a situation is not found in Tamil Nadu, he said. They did not attend the meeting for a few reasons, but they should support the farmers, he said. He also appealed to youth, traders, students, government staff, teachers and all sections of people to support the general strike on April 25. He also asserted that the DMK should continue its work for a change of regime in the state.
