Hyderabad: CMRS certificate will let metro increase speed soon
The frequency of trains between Miyapur-Ameerpet is eight minutes, while the Nagole-Ameerpet section has a frequency of 15 minutes.
Hyderabad: Speed of the Hyderabad Metro trains is all set to increase as the Commissioner of the Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will be conducting an inspection on Wednesday.
Mr M.P. Naidu, project director, L&T Metro, on Tuesday said, “Once the approval is obtained from the CMRS, the Metro will run from Ameerpet to Mettuguda on Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology. The speed of the Metro will be increased after the CMRS certifies us.”
Metro commuters have frequently raised complaints about the slow pace of the trains from Mettuguda to Ameerpet. Trains from Nagole to Mettuguda and Ameerpet to Miyapur have trains running at speeds of about 30 kmph, trains between the Mettuguda and Ameerpet stretch run only up to 22 kmph.
This is because the train is run manually and not by using CBTC.
The CMRS will conduct tests before giving approval.
