Poll results to impact Narendra Modi's Cabinet reshuffle
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, who handles a globally sensitive portfolio is being seen as a 'soft minister'.
New Delhi: The much awaited cabinet reshuffle of the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government will depend on the outcome of Assam assembly poll results.
Some 24 hours before the declaration of the results, speculation is rife within Government circles that Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and Minister of State in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh could be drafted back to party work.

Sources said that the reshuffle exercise will gain momentum if the BJP manages to win in Assam, as then the Sports Minister (Independent Charge) Sarbanand Sonowal who is the party's CM candidate there, will move to Guwahati and his vacant berth in the Union Cabinet would have to be filled, validating the need for the reshuffle.

With the Government completing two years in office next week, the pressure on it to go ahead with the exercise seems to have increased. Sources also indicated that the PMO was not enthused with the performance of the aforementioned ministers, especially Mr Nadda, who was sidelined on the NEET issue, when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley held an all party meeting on the controversial subject on May 16. Similarly Mr Javadekar, who handles a globally sensitive portfolio is being seen as a soft minister.
