State staff to shift by June 27
Temporary Secretariat works to be completed by June 15.
Amaravati: Construction of office blocks has started at the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi in the Amaravati capital region.
The workers have started construction of a wall to the CM’s block after removal of slab-centering on Tuesday. The contractors are using light-weight bricks for the construction of walls which would help to complete it swiftly.
The two contractors are preparing to lay slab for the second floor and gearing up to complete the temporary Secretariat complex by June 15. The temporary Secretariat contractors Shapoorji Pallonji and L&T Construction workers started the slab-finishing works.
The site engineers said that the work was stopped for one day due to the death of worker at the workplace. The engineers said that they are taking all security measures to restrain untoward incidents and the decrease of temperature is helping the workers to work in good environment.
The engineers said that cellular lightweight concrete bricks are being used for the construction of walls. They said that CLC bricks are tougher than normal bricks and curing and hardening is very good. They said that the slab of the second floor would be started in a few days after completion of centering works and the finishing works of the first floor will be completed by the time of the second floor slab construction.
CRDA vice-chairman and minister for municipal administration P. Narayana said that the works are at a brisk pace and they are expecting completion of construction works of five blocks of the temporary Secretariat by June 15.
The minister said that the Secretariat employees will shift to their new offices from Hyderabad by June 27.
