Explain FDI approval for INX: BJP to P Chidambaram
Party dismisses Congress leader's charge of political vendetta.
Chennai: Dismissing former finance minister P. Chidambaram’s allegation of political vendetta in CBI raids on him and his son, the BJP said the party never indulges in ‘revenge politics’ and demanded that he explain the FDI approval for INX Media.
Taking strong exception to Mr Chidambaram’s reaction following Tuesday’s CBI raids, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said law is impartial and sought to know if the alleged irregularities were meant to favour his son.
“I-T raids are political vendetta to silence me-Ex FM PC. Was it the practice while U were in FM office? Alleged irregularities 2 benefit UR son?” she asked in a tweet.
A senior leader who rubbished Chidambaram’s allegation that he was being targeted for his critical views about the Centre, said that the Narendra Modi government does not indulge in any kind of ‘revenge politics.’ Dismissing it as baseless allegation, he said the law should take its own course.
Justifying the raids, Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said action has been initiated on wrong-doers. “There is no hidden agenda,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Tamilisai, who is on a state-wide tour to meet all 1,133 mandal presidents, is involved in efforts to strengthen the party at the booth level. The recent initiative will see the party getting geared up to take up an effective campaign on PM Modi government’s achievements. Addressing the Chennai zone mandal presidents, Dr Tamilisai urged them to hammer out a strategy to take Mr Modi’s achievements to people.
