World Telugu Conference deferred to October
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced that the inaugural event would be held on June 2, state formation day.
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has deferred organising the World Telugu Conference to October. The inaugural event will be held on September 30, Dasara day.
As per revised schedule, the inaugural event will be held on Dasara on September 30 and conference will be held from October 22 to 28.
Earlier, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced that the inaugural event would be held on June 2, state formation day.
However, officials on Wednesday brought to the notice of the CM that June 2 falls under Astami and also, the weather wouldn’t be conducive to holding the event as the monsoon may set in by then.
Moreover, they told the CM that it requires time to make arrangements to organise the event the grand scale sought by him and also to invite prominent Telugu personalities from across the globe.
K.V. Ramanachary, adviser to the state government, and other literary personalities met Mr Rao at Pragati Bhavan on Wednesday and sought deferment of the conference to October.
The CM approved the change in schedule asked them to organise the conference from October 22 to 28 and prepare an agenda.
