KANNUR: The campaign for the repolling in four booths, three in Kasargod and one in Kannur Lok Sabha constituency, ended on Friday. The repolling will be held on Sunday as ordered by the Election Commission of India because of bogus voting in the booths during the polling held on April 23. The silent campaign will continue on Saturday.

The ECI announced the repolling on Thursday after confirming the bogus voting through CCTV visuals.

The three booths are number 19 of Pilathara at Kalliassery, number 69 of Puthiyangadi Jamath High School (North Block), and number 70 of the Jamath High School (South Block) in Kasargod constituency. The fourth is booth number 166 of Mappila AUPS, Taliparamba, in Kannur constituency.

The Congress leaders had first released the visuals of CPM cadres, including women, casting bogus votes through a  news channel. One woman was a village panchayat member of the CPM and another a former village panchayat member.

Meanwhile, LDF workers allegedly blocked the campaign team of UDF candidate Rajmohan Unnithan at Pilathara on Friday evening and also seized the mike from him.  The UDF team arrived soon after the LDF team headed by CPM leader P. Jayarajan returned after the campaign. CPM workers also allegedly manhandled Asianet News reporter Mujeeb Rahman and cameraman Sunilkumar.
