Madurai: Student found dead under mysterious circumstances
About 500 metres away from his house, he fainted in front of a grocery shop on the road around 1 pm.
Madurai: Tragedy struck the family of jail warder on Saturday when their 16-year-old son died mysteriously after he returned from school with happy news that he has been chosen for the humanity group of his choice.
Sundarapandian was dropped by his father O. Nagendra Pandi, who works as chief warder in sub-jail at Manapparai, in front of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Narimedu around 11 am. He went inside the school and spoke to teachers after seeing the notice in which the list of candidates for various groups of 11th class was displayed. He reportedly walked back home which was 2.5 km away from the school.
About 500 metres away from his house, he fainted in front of a grocery shop on the road around 1 pm and injured himself on the face, said a police officer. The shopkeeper gave him water and an onlooker dropped Sundarapandian in a two-wheeler at his house, said the officer.
After he reached home, Sundarapandian asked for water to his mother Amutha and he lay down on the bed, said the officer adding that he then fell down from the bed and fainted. When his family members rushed him to a nearly private hospital, they declared him brought death, the police added. He was then brought to Government Rajaji Hospital for postmortem. While the relatives suspect that the boy was assaulted by somebody referring to the injuries on his face, the investigating officer dismissed it st-ating the stone gravels on the road caused him injuries.
“We have enquired with the people on the r-oad that he used to walk back to his house. We don’t suspect any foul play,” said the probe officer. Following the boy’s death, rumours spread about violence between students in school, which is yet to reopen after summer vacation.
