Dharmapuri: With huge increase in the inflows into Cauvery river at Hogenakkal in Dharmapuri district, the district administration closed the falls area and also stopped the coracle services till further orders.
The inflow into the Cauvery in the lower riparian state was recorded as 30,000 cusecs on Sunday by the staff in the Central Water Commission office at Biligundulu village, from where Cauvery enters Tamil Nadu. As a precautionary measure, the Dharmapuri district administration ordered the local oars men not to take the picnickers into Cauvery for site-seeing till further orders. To the disappointment of picnickers, the water falls were closed.
